Lodging at Historic Falls Ridge

The Cabin at Falls Ridge is a historic property in the Blue Ridge Mountains, constantly transforming as we pursue our vision of creating a space where unique elements of Virginia and Appalachia can be showcased through hospitality. We host overnight guests and throw events ourselves, and also welcome others to share their unique talents and wisdom at our space.

The over 1200 acres of surrounding land is comprised of Falls Ridge Nature Preserve, the North Fork of the Roanoke River, a Norfolk Southern railroad line, a cemetery, farmland and “hollers” largely untouched since the area's Native Americans occupied the land in the mid-1700s.  

We currently offer our luxe The Suite at Falls Ridge, our cozy The Cottage at Falls Ridge, and camping via The Campground at Falls Ridge as standalone offerings via Airbnb and Hipcamp. Walking distance from our lodging offerings are a variety of swimming, hiking, fishing, and nature walk opportunities. We are 15 minutes from downtown Blacksburg and Virginia Tech, 15 minutes from Christiansburg and 30 minutes from Roanoke. 

We are  30 minutes from world-famous hiking trails like McAfee's Knob and Dragon's Tooth on the Appalachian Trail or The Cascades in Jefferson National Forrest. We are also 30 minutes from epic floats and kayaks on The New River (the 2nd oldest river in the world and the same river as America's newest national park, New River Gorge). We are happy to arrange private outdoor adventures or rent hiking or river equipment to guests who travel light. 

We (John & Jesi) purchased the original cabin in May 2020 and the cottage in Sept 2022. We are doing all the work ourselves to preserve what we can and repair what we must. We have befriended members of the original Dudley family to ask historical questions and will do our best by its history. We plan to eventually incorporate more displays about the ridge's history as a railroad whistle stop, as well as a tiny house, pool, and treehouse.
